Minute 201007-01 - Friends approved the following Minute on Designation of Outreach Funds:
Mountain View Friends Meeting's financial support of organizations whose work exemplifies Quaker testimonies is an expression of our living faith as a community. To assist the Meeting in discerning how our donations should be allocated to fulfill this purpose, the Peace and Justice Committee, with the addition of a member of the Finance and Budget Committee and a member of the Worship and Ministry Committee, shall make recommendations to the business meeting on the designation of outreach funds in the annual budget. These recommendations shall address which organizations should be funded as well as the proportion of outreach funds they should receive. The Business Meeting shall provide guidance on total funds to be allocated to Outreach each fiscal year as part of the regular budgeting process.
These recommendations shall be based on worshipful discernment using queries developed by this group. The selection of receiving organizations shall be reviewed every three years, but may be reviewed more frequently if requests for changes are brought to this group.
This process will not apply to the allocation of funds from the Other Concerns line item in the budget.
This process shall take effect in planning for the 2011-2012 Fiscal Year.
